"North East ISD is the second largest school district in the San Antonio area. It spans approximately 144 square miles in the north central and northeast sectors of Bexar County. The majority of the district lies within the boundaries of the city of San Antonio, but several smaller communities are also encompassed within North East ISD, including the cities of Castle Hills, Hill Country Village, Hollywood Park and Windcrest

 

 All campuses in North East ISD are fully accredited by the Texas Education Agency. NEISD boasted 16 Exemplary, 24 Recognized and 25 Academically Acceptable schools in 2011-2012. In addition, NEISD has a National Exemplary After-School Program at every elementary and middle school through its Adult and Community Education department.

 North East ISD is one of the largest district in the state to be rated Recognized. In addition to its 16 Exemplary schools, the district had 24 Recognized and 25 Academically Acceptable campuses for 2011-2012.  In 2010-2011, NEISD’s average SAT score was above the state and national averages.

 Magnet Schools

North East ISD magnet schools emphasize choice, teamwork, student involvement and intellectual ability. They support the district’s goal that all students will have the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to realize their potential. Students will develop their special talents while enhancing their learning capacities through academic challenges, complex thinking and problem solving. All of the NEISD magnet schools have an application process that could include interviews or a portfolio of work.


Castle Hills Elementary School-
 the district’s only year- round elementary magnet/school of choice.

 


Krueger School of Applied Technologies at Krueger Middle School -
applied technology, school-within-a-school magnet program centers on aerospace themes.


Interactive Media Applications at Krueger Middle School -
curriculum is centered on mulitmedia and involves integration of all the core subject areas to build relevancy.


Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Academy at Nimitz Middle School 

Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Academy at Lee High School - located at both Nimitz Middle School and Lee High School. The mission of STEM is to engage students in the application of knowledge as scientists, mathematicians, engineers, designers, international scholars, and writers.


Agriscience Magnet Program at Madison High School -
 one of the largest and most active agriculture programs in Texas featuring areas such as agricultural engineering, animal science and plant science.

 

Automotive Technology Academy -

prepares students with the knowledge and skills to pursue a post-secondary education or begin a life-long career in the automotive industry.

Design And Technology Academy at Roosevelt High School -

This college preparatory program stresses creativity, problem solving, teamwork and technology through projects including, but not limited to, engineering, architecture, graphic design, web page design, video game design and 3D animation.


Electrical Systems Technology Apprenticeship Program at MacArthur High School -

 an Apprenticeship Program in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training.

Engineering & Technologies Academy at Roosevelt High School -

Students explore topic areas such as Bio-Engineering, Home Technology Integration, Pre-Engineering Manufacturing, Geographic Information Systems.

North East School of the Arts at Lee High School-

seven majors offered at NESA include cinema, musical theater, visual arts, technical theater, creative writing, dance and instrumental music."
